Background of the Study
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is increasingly being recognized as a strategic business practice, with companies investing in social, environmental, and community-based projects as part of their corporate philosophy. Nigerian Breweries Plc, a major player in the Nigerian beverage industry, has actively engaged in CSR initiatives, including education, health, and environmental sustainability projects (Ezeani & Okoye, 2023). CSR expenditures not only enhance the company’s brand image and reputation but can also influence internal stakeholders, particularly employees. Research has suggested that when companies invest in CSR, it can positively impact employee satisfaction by fostering a sense of pride, engagement, and alignment with the company’s values (Ogunyemi et al., 2024). Nigerian Breweries Plc has implemented CSR programs such as the "Maltina Teacher of the Year" award and other community support initiatives, which have the potential to improve employee morale, job satisfaction, and organizational loyalty. However, the specific impact of CSR expenditure on employee satisfaction in Nigerian manufacturing firms remains under-researched. This study seeks to explore how Nigerian Breweries Plc's CSR expenditures affect employee satisfaction and retention.

Statement of the Problem
Despite the increasing importance of CSR initiatives in corporate strategies, there is limited empirical evidence on how CSR expenditures directly influence employee satisfaction in the context of Nigerian manufacturing firms. While Nigerian Breweries Plc has been committed to CSR programs, the relationship between CSR investment and employee job satisfaction needs further investigation. This study aims to assess how CSR expenditures influence employee satisfaction at Nigerian Breweries Plc and explore the potential mechanisms through which CSR activities impact employees' perceptions and attitudes towards the company.
